I think these people don’t realize that it really doesn’t take all that much courage to change your life. I don’t care if we’re talking about working out religiously, changing jobs, getting out of a bad relationship, or moving to a different town. Believe me, you can’t lose. Whatever you do, provided that you stay focused, works out. The only people who lose are the ones who cash in their chips and refuse to play another hand. It’s like the Chinese allegory of the man caught in the rapids. He’s managed to grab hold of a rock, but the raging waters are beating him against the rock over and over again. If he doesn’t let go, he’ll soon die, but he’s afraid to let go because he doesn’t know what dangers lie downstream.
“The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.”
~Morgan Scott Peck was an American psychiatrist and best-selling author, best known for his first book, The Road Less Traveled, published in 1978.
I gouged my hand open a few days ago so I hadn’t been able to go to hot vinyasa for fear of reopening the wound. Ack. I wrapped it up tight enough today that I was fairly confident it would be okay. (It was.) I was nervous that the time off would mean decreased flexibility and energy through class. NOPE. Guys, I was flying, or I guess going through those chaturangas like I was flowing through water. I also think I gained some flexibility. Yoga achievement unlocked!
Okay, since running a sub 30 minute 5K and running 7.5K last weekend, I’ve kind of had this dream to run 10K before I skipped town. I think the only day I’ll have time is today! I’m a little nervous for this evening. I’ll just be happy if I do it, regardless of time! So, how does one go about mapping these things out? Google, here I come.
… pretty bad. It’s wrapped up pretty good and I think the bleeding stopped BUT I think hot yoga would just aggravate it? That would be gross / embarrassing for my hand to start bleeding in the middle of class.
I’m going to pack a yoga bag for after work, just in case it stops throbbing.
So I’ve been asked by a few people to talk about my stretching program. I wouldn’t say I have a specific stretching program that I follow per say. My main focus for stretching is to become more flexible but stretching has other benefits as well such as..
… I brought in for them. THEN they tried one and shut their damn mouths. “Healthy” food often gets a bad rep but it can really be delicious, especially when made with a lot of love. Those cupcakes weren’t even made with that much love except for the one I made myself. Suckers.
Today I also ate another chicken leg for breakfast, did some light circuit training (push up improvement HEY-O), and made it to yoga ALL before work. I win this morning.
… when all I want to do is cook and watch Mad Men and figure out my job situation. It’ll be okay, right? I think I’d really regret missing my favorite class of the week. (An advanced hot vinyasa / yin / yang class… ) I THINK eating a huge sandwich (hello, first grains I’ve consumed in a month) put me in a slump. Interesting. This makes me less inclined to leave the Paleo-like lifestyle AND less inclined to slip away from it on vacation.
